34 Magellan MAP 410 GPS Receiver
Working with Routes
A route is a planned course of travel defined by a series of waypoints stored
in the receivers memory. These waypoints are connected to form the
segments or “legs” of the route. Waypoints that are saved in the receivers
memory can also be inserted into a route. There are 5 different types of
routes; GOTO, BACKTRACK, MOB, MULTI-LEG and TRACK ROUTE.
The MAP 410 holds 20 routes with 30 fully-reversible legs. The route
function allows you to activate, create, view/edit or delete any one of the 20
routes.
THE ROUTE MENU
The Route menu lists all current routes that are saved in
your receivers memory. Use the following keystrokes to
access the Route menu:
Creating a GOTO Route
A GOTO is a route which guides you from your current
position to any waypoint in the receivers memory. As an
example, you can save a waypoint at your home.
Creating a GOTO Route from the Map Screen
This function allows you to create a GOTO route directly
from the MAP screen by placing the cursor over a position
and pressing the GOTO key. You can place the cursor over
a particular waypoint or destination of interest or over a
position on the screen that is unmarked. When you set a
GOTO to an unmarked location, your receiver marks that
position and gives it a temporary waypoint name called
“MAP”. You will then start navigating towards “MAP”. When you set a
GOTO to a destination of interest or waypoint, a confirmation screen
appears confirming your desire to navigate to that position, which is already
named and doesn’t need the “MAP” designation. Highlight YES and press
the ENTER key and you will begin navigating towards that position.
